Show-case 9: Provisions

Pieces of bigger pots in this vitrine were found in the moat; the broken pieces were thrown into it. It is easier to put together fragments of gla-zed stove tiles because of their colour, pattern, or size. When dealing with fragments of pots or earthen vessels, this is only possible if the fragments are found in situ within a limited area.

- Big two-handled pot

The handle belongs to the pot below on the right side of the show-case. A second handle was necessary so that the pot could be carried more easily. On the other side of the pot you can see the trace of the place where the second ear broke off.

- Tap

From two records we know that the Lords of Eisenberg possessed a vine-growing estate at Tscherms in Southern Tyrol, then Austrian territory.
